Park / Area History
Established as a regional park in 1972, LeRoy Leisureland is the result of extraordinary community effort started in the 1960s by the LeRoy Kinsmen. Although the town was 30 miles from any suitable swimming water, residents wanted a swimming hole for their youngsters. The local gravel pit was used for two summers and in 1968 local Kinsmen decided to donate $1000.00 as a down payment on land suitable for building a lagoon style swimming pool. The RM of LeRoy was brought into the organization and the entire community donated their time and skills to build the park. Work bees of every description were held grass/tree planting, stone picking and sand hauling. The saucer shaped pool was completed and at the time, the only swimming pool for 70 miles. Community volunteer work continued to build the park. The clubhouse and concession were built in 1992, along with a grass green upgrade to the golf course in 1999. Additional campsites were added over the years, now having 30 amp power to all.
