Park Description

Lake Charron is a beautiful, small and quiet park located on an island with a causeway access. The park has an abundance of green space, a sand beach, children's play area, colorful floral displays and a variety of wildlife which come back on a yearly basis.

Park / Area History

The local Lions Club along with the clerk of the Town of Naicam began working toward developing the island of Lake Charron so that surrounding residents would have a swimming, fishing, picnic and camping area. Letters began transmission as early as 1967, between the town clerk and the Department of Natural Resources. In December 1967 Mr. Wm. S. Fosterson surrendered the lease of land back to the Department of Natural Resources, which was then leased to the Town of Naicam in 1968. The Local Lions Club then prepared the island to be used as Lake Charron. The island saw many changes: a causeway was built to the island, power installed, beach developed, change houses erected, cook house built, ball diamonds cleared, camping area, boat ramp and play area. Then on September 18, 1972 Lake Charron became a Regional Park.
