Park Description

Sturgeon Lake Regional Park is a great family park in a naturally treed valley. Whether you want to just relax on the sandy beach while the kids enjoy the playground, go fish or boating, you will find Sturgeon Lake Regional Park a favourite. If you are planning a reunion or group camping, our upper campground is the answer. The park features a wheelchair accessible combined store/concession and restaurant facility. The store stocks basic food, camping and fishing items and is a fishing licence vendor. The restaurant features tasty home cooked meals for eat in or take out dining. We offer a variety of recreation opportunities for children and adults during the summer and are only 20 minutes from the town of Shellbrook.

Available in Shellbrook (35 km): Police, Hospital and medical services, hall rental, fuel/propane, swimming facilities, licensed dining, golfing, mechanical, laundry, groceries, and worship services. Fuel available at Holbein (23 km).


Park / Area History

In 1965 local area residents pursued forming a Regional Park in the pristine natural beauty surrounding Sturgeon Lake. A natural lake dam ensures excellent fishing and a recreational water level.


Barrier Free Access

The park features a barrier free combined store/concession and restaurant facility. Our park showers/washrooms are barrier free. Sites are level and graveled.

Policies

ALCOHOL BAN IN EFFECT FOR MAY LONG WEEKEND.

Must be 18 years or older to hold site. All pets must be on leash, please clean up after your pets and dispose of the waste properly. Quiet time enforced from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The park levies a daily vehicle entry fee that is waived if you have purchased an annual regional park sticker.
Deposits: Daily Electrical Sites, $32.00; 5+ Days & Long Weekends. Deposit – $64.00; Daily Non Electrical Sites, $22.00, 5+ Days and Long Weekends Deposit: $44.00;  Monthly Deposits $200.00, half of the deposit is non refundable if cancelled 48 hours or less; Seasonal Deposits $800.00 half is refundable if cancelled before May 1st, after May 1st no refunds on seasonal deposits. Please note there is a minimum $20.00 cancellation fee on all deposit refunds.

Camping

With a total of 55 sites, there are 30 electrical sites (30 amp) and 3 non serviced sites in lower campground with an additional 10 electrical (30 amp) and 12 non serviced sites available in the upper campground. All sites are level and drained with gravel pads. Site maps are available at the gate. There is a dining shelter and day use picnic area near the beach. Sites feature picnic tables, fire pits, daily garbage pickup and central water hydrants. Modern washrooms and coin operated showers are centrally located and wheelchair accessible. The park offers a variety of recreation opportunities for children and adults during the summer.


Group Camping

Groups are welcome to rent the upper campground. Rent the electrical site area, tenting site area, or the entire upper campground. Whether you are using a trailer or tent, the upper campground is great for group camping.

 

 

 

Swimming

The Park has a large well maintained sand beach and designated swimming area, and change house on the beach.

Playground/Recreation Activities

The park has a beach volleyball area, two horseshoe pits and a centrally located playground with three new playground pieces. Adult supervision is welcomed and encouraged.

Boating and Fishing

The lake is stocked with northern pike, walleye and perch. Excellent fishing! Easily accessible boat launch with ample docking and parking for boat trailers. Fish filleting station near beach. Boats (no house boats) and watercraft are permitted through the park gates. Smaller personal watercraft are also permitted. Please check at the gate for restrictions. Some areas of the lake are subject to use restrictions.
